PROJECT 1

LIGHTING AND VAC DESIGN FOR COMFORT

yoooo1_edited.jpg

Before

After

I changed the plan because I need more space to walk and work on the floor to do models. Moreover, the position of the air conditioner direct to the bed makes me uncomfortable to use air conditioner during the night while the only ventilation I have in my room. I want to add fan to my room because it reduces the electrical bill rather than using air conditioner and environment friendly.

LIGHTING

The lighting uses the same type of light which is recessed down light in warm white in every room. The lighting chosen makes the room feels comfortable, yet I’m not effective on doing my projects or homework because the lights are dim and warm white colour. Lighting needed especially in the study area.

Bedroom

3400mm (L) X 2530mm (W)

Area = 8.6 m2 = 92.56 ft2

Foot candles = 20 (bedroom)

Average lux =  70 lx

Calculation Based on the Room

Bathroom

1300mm (L) X 3400mm (W)

Area = 4.42 m2 = 47.58 ft2

Foot candles = 18 (bathroom)

BENEFITS:

  1. White light (brighter than the warm white color).

  2. Enough lumen for the room.

  3. Long lasting up to 15.000 hours.

  4. Save up to 80% energy.

Additional light put in study area below the decoration table to give more lighting. I chose LED light because it is long lasting and save energy.

Wiring System

Before

After

The wiring system on the bedroom is using the series circuit. I add on the wire to make it parallel which cost some money to purchased, yet if the other light turns off, the other one still can survive. I consider adding because my room doesn’t have any source of light other than the artificial lighting.

Ventilation

Bedroom

yooo6_edited.jpg

The only ventilation is air conditioner. The AC itself located directly to the bed and my room isn’t that big. It was easy to get cold only in a few minutes. Mostly I don’t use AC during the night because I’m not comfortable with it. The source is too big for a small space. I want to add a fan to the room because it has the same purpose as the AC and it is environment friendly.

Bathroom

Before

After

Ventilation system on bathroom uses exhaust fan. There is no window in the bathroom. The only problem is the wiring that combined with the lighting is bothering me. After taken a bath I need to let the exhaust fan and the lights turn on to make the room dry again and it is affecting the electricity bill.
