PROJECT1

WEEK 1

On the first week, I started to brainstorm on what topic I want to focus for my project. I search topic based on issues and experiment. From issues, I founded that there are several things that I interested to look into:

1. Mask needs to be recycled causing beaches filled with mask that causing harm to animal.

2. How to be sustainable with bamboo as household product, house, building. Why bamboo? because it's easy to sustain and to plant.

3. Malaysia has the biggest obesity rate in Asia.

4. Pediatric physical therapy for kids.

Experiment topic:

1. Magic: imaginary world to reality, tricks.

2. Memory Lane from you were born until senior, to appreciate life more.

From those topic, I narrowed down to choose two of the topic that interesting for me the most and did some research to strengthen the topic.

WEEK 2

On the second week, I already know that I want to focus on memory lane. Because of that I did more research to support the idea. On this week, I also went to Petrosains to inspired me that might can help me to design the space later on.

WEEK 3

On the week three, I focused on thinking about the what, why, and how aspect from the project and looking for the references.

WEEK 4

After my previous tutorial, I focused on model as my medium inspired by this picture:

While thinking about how the medium looks, I finalized the proposal first.

WEEK 5

17.jpeg

After further discussion about my project, all the feedback from previous progression is to make my model into conceptual model rather than a space. Because of that I'm planning to change the medium into something that is more conceptual.

First, I make the drawing of the design that I wanted.

After that, I tried to make it on Sketchup to make it easier for laser cutting later on.

18.jpeg

I also started to buy wood that needed for my project. I went to Art Friend, Daiso, ACE Hardware, and Cactus. Material that I planned to use is mostly wood and for my hanging memories, I bought some stuffs with different material and I will experiencing to make the childhood memories in conceptual way.

WEEK 6

On week 6, I went to physical class to have tutorial even though Ms. Aziah wasn't there, I asked further with Mr. Romzi on how to improve me design, He requested to make the structure to look like crane so that it can be moved. To achieve that, I started to add that on my design in Sketchup.

While started to build up the project, I started to think on the box design below the medium. I was planning to make the box with information of the design.

21.jpeg

At First, I was thinking to have clock as the center of the box because time have an important role in memories.

I started to explore the shape inspired by:

After all of the elements is done, I started to laser cut and print it into the wood.

Getonggak Presentation:

I'm glad that I can finished this project on time because of my decision to changed the design in conceptual way starting from week 5. I'm filled with joy and excitement because after all the hard work that I put in, it is finally done. I learned several things from this project: time management, design thinking on conceptual model, exploring objects that can be created to something else, creativity, and understand further on using laser cutting. One thing that made me surprise, I never realize that I enjoyed making small detail objects that is assembled neatly because from semester 1, I wasn't a very neat person. Thus, this project bring me understanding to create foundation on the project to bring it along the final year.

WEEK 8

Week 8 is independent learning week. During this time, I focusing on making the poster. I searched for inspiration for my poster, started to designing the position, fixing the Sketchup model, and making the design.

2. Collecting images that appropriate and making the collage of the poster

3. Combining the collage and the coloring of the medium.

WEEK 9 - Final Poster

16.jpg

The collage design is changed because I have the idea of the rolling film and that can be interested to be put in the poster. The outline of the poster has the same look as the framing on box's medium.

For the Advance Interior Architecture 1 module, I compose the programming.

WEEK 10

During this week, I propose several site that can be suitable as my location for my project.

Early in morning, I also find the new site, Industrial Estate Gallery, KL

From today's tutorial, my lecture approved on Industrial Estate Gallery and asked me to find another site as the other option.

1. Cantilever House, KL

4. Sentul Depot, KL

After further discussion, I and Ms. Aziah agreed on Industrial Estate Gallery and Sentul Depot

WEEK 11

From the discussion on the project, I received several feedback to improve and to choose my site: references and programming to bring tangible and intangible part.

WEEK 12

33.jpg
34.jpg
35.jpg

I decided to change the programming to create a story in the space: from the house that give a sense of safety with the living room and kitchen with comforting food. Next, there will be the room filled with child imagination where everything can be toys and there will be drawing/ Diy station to improve the imagination.  Next, the playground where it is the first interaction with other children. People can play around and build connection with other children. Next, is the traditional market that sells traditional food with the surrounding environment. In this stage, the "child" exploring the outside world with different people. Next after exploring, it will go back to the house whereby gaming has lots of impact to stimulate the brain and also one of the memories during that time.

Besides from the site that we agreed on, I found another option for my site in a warehouse nearby Daerah Maritim Pelabuhan Klang in Klang Port

38.png

However, Ms. Aziah prefer to take Sentul Depot as my site. Other than that, she asked me to do research on Parc De La Villette in Paris because it has the element design that can be implemented to my space later on.

WEEK 13

On week 13, I focused on looking forward on the site analysis and Parc de la Villette analysis.

On this week, I also focusing myself on producing DP progress on monologue.

WEEK 14 - BOARD

On week 14, I started to think about the design poster. I started with thinking about how the programming and activity looks. Then, I started to look into the references from the pinterest. Here is some of the images that inspired me for designing the look of my buildings illustration in programming:

IMG-1468.JPG

On week 15, I managed to finished the components and colored them.

After looking at the color I don't really like the way it looks for the board. Although the color I decided to choose work together. Because of that I tried to changed the color scheme in photoshop.

Finally I finished the Board 2: Programming. It took quite a long time to finally finish the drawings. Next, I moved on to the first board: Topic and Issue.

WEEK 16

On week 16, after looking through the colors of the board, it was a bit flat so I put the contrast of yellow color as it resemble a happy color.

Reflection

Throughout the project, I've learned to become more critical to exploring my ideas and put the implementation of my ideas and references to the space as the design strategy. For designing the board specifically, this was my first time drew poster on procreate because I wanted to have a specific look on certain areas that resemblance the maturity and fun of the shape. Because of that, I took longer time on designing the activity poster. However, I managed to finish the whole board that makes me happy with the result.

Feedback from Juries

1. I need to specify my topic because happy childhood memories will be different for each person, perhaps maybe looking on to the memories around the surroundings.

2. The issue doesn't feel like connected to the activities and programming that I had.

What I need to do to solve this problem:

1. Defined what is the happy thoughts on childhood memories.

2. Specified what happy childhood memories I want to bring up.

3. Need to know the twist of the project.
